Having just had to replace the motherboard battery and losing the start up settings I've almost got it all back to normal, except for a small number of icons in the Start -> All programs menu.

Hi All,

I'm desperate for some help!
I bought an LG multi DVD rewriter a month or so ago but it would'nt burn movie files to dvd, either through nero or ashampoo burning software. I could burn music files and also picture files but these were to cd. I thought the drive must be faulty so sent it back. I received my new one today and it's still doing the same thing, it's driving me mad! I've ruined many discs!
What happens is both nero and ashampoo recode the file ready to burn to dvd, the drive light starts to flash and it writes the lead in but then the light goes out, you can still hear the disc spinning but it doesn't write any further, hence another disc ruined. On the drive I sent back I tried updating firmware, I deleted upper and lower filters in the registry( after searching the internet) but without success. I've checked in properties and the drive is working properley. I don't know what else I can do. I'm no expert when it comes to computers, but I'm not a novice either. I have two drives on my computer, a cd drive and the dvd drive both are connected to a secondry IDE cable, with the dvd drive set as the master. I'm using Windows XP service pack 3. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

P.S. I don't know whether there is any significance, but in my computer the drive is recognised as a dvd-ram drive, but if you put a blank dvd in the icon changes to a cd drive???

I may not acknowledge this post for a couple of weeks as I am going on holiday (if only I had known then what I know now:rolleyes:) but I want to get the upgrade for Christmas if I'm going to do it so I will need to act on any advice as soon as I get back.

Thanks

Hi,

Having just had to replace the motherboard battery and losing the start up settings I've almost got it all back to normal, except for a small number of icons in the Start -> All programs menu. The programs have to be started from their Programs folder, which is not very convenient. How do I get the shortcut icons back to launch from All Programs? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

I have Norton 360 on my desktop. It has licence for up to 3 other comps.
I want to use it on a new laptop. The instructions are very limited with Norton as when you follow these it tells you to download the Norton 360 onto the new laptop and key in the admin key.
But nowhere on the Norton site can I find the facility to download 360 to the new laptop WITHOUT having to pay for it
Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Just developed a scrolling issue with the mouse on my PC. I have a Dell USB 3 key mouse on Win XP SP3. The mouse is set to scroll 3 lines at a time. Some web pages are OK (such as this one) but on my Home page (Virgin) when I attempt to scroll down, it is more like a blind unrolling than a smooth scroll.
Anyone any clues as to why and what can I do to correct it?
I have been into Control Panel > Mouse and played with various settings without success.
